Inspired by this fantastic rainbow arch – here’s the mini version for your cake! Full of everything fun – balloons, honeycomb balls, candy – this cake topper really “takes the cake”! The balloons only last a day or two, so if you make it ahead of time, save a few extra balloons to replace any sad looking ones on the day of your event.
Materials needed: white cake pop sticks, cardboard, hot glue gun, candy coins and wrapped candy in rainbow colors, water balloons, 1” and 2” honeycomb balls, streamers, scissors.
Step 1: From a 9 x 6 piece of scrap cardboard, cut out a basic rainbow shape, about 1” wide.
Step 2: With hot glue, begin gluing on some of the larger honeycombs and candy coins, in rainbow color order. (You can mark color sections with pencil if you want before you start).
Step 3: Glue in medium size candies and balloons, then add the smallest size candies and honeycomb balls.
Step 4: Take a 4” strip of streamer and fold it in half, then half again. Cut fringe into one side. Repeat with each color you may need.
Step 5: Glue tassels into any empty spaces on the rainbow.
Step 6: Using hot glue, attach two cake pop sticks to the back of the rainbow. Let the glue set thoroughly before moving.
