Modern Care Bears Party

Today we’ve partnered with Care Bears to create a modern themed party inspired by the multi-color bear characters! These warm and fuzzy ‘80s icons are back, reimagined for a new generation. Between their vibrant rainbow colors and unique belly badge symbols, there’s a lot to work with when it comes to creating, fun, on-theme details. Whether you’re celebrating from near or afar, here are some ideas to create your very own Care Bears themed celebration.

  • Craft a whole table of Care Bears friends using heart-shaped balloons. These balloon sticks make great table decor, but are just as adorable doubling as favors (hand them out with favor bags if you’re doing a drive-by celebration).
  • Cheer Bear isn’t the only one who looks great sporting a colorful rainbow—bring her signature symbol to the party through ready-made details like paper cups, mix-and-match tableware or baked goods like these sugar cookies (they come individually packaged so you can add them to favor bags or goodie boxes if you’re mailing items to guests for a virtual celebration).
  • A party (in person or virtual) is incomplete without a fun favor bag. The Care Bears mini figurines make it easy to give everyone a Care Bear (or two) of their own. We love the vibrant hues in the iridescent multipack.
  • Round things out with an assortment of stickers—buy ready made heart-shaped ones, or print your own with the Care Bears belly badge symbols using our template (sized to work with these.)
  • We couldn’t resist making custom confetti to bring some nods to each of the bears to the table setup and favor bags. If you have a die-cutting machine this is the perfect easy detail to bring fun and color—you can find our template here.
  • Add your favorite Care Bears plush to complement your table decor. Tenderheart Bear fits in perfectly here.

Materials needed: Balloon sticks, heart-shaped balloons (we used 6” and 10”), balloon face detail template, printer, white cardstock, colored cardstock, scissors, low-temp hot glue gun, double stick tape, ribbons, belly badge stickers, belly badge confetti

STEP 1: Print the balloon face detail template on white cardstock and cut out facial features, symbols, and ears. Score and fold each ear where shown on template. Alternatively, you can cut these from colored cardstock and assemble as shown.

STEP 2: Inflate a heart-shaped balloon and use a low-temp hot glue gun to adhere to the balloon stick with the tied off end of the balloon facing up. You may need to trim away a bit of the balloon stick cup to create a flatter surface to adhere the balloon to.

STEP 3: Glue on the ears using a low-temp glue gun.

STEP 4: Attach the facial features and symbols to the face using double-stick tape.

STEP 5: Cut two 24” lengths of ribbons and fold in half. Wrap around the top of the balloon stick and secure with hot glue.
