Oh Happy Hair Day: Zuhair Murad Couture

This party hair tutorial is inspired by Zuhair Murad’s Couture SS13 collection. This look would work well on all hair textures, if your hair is really curly, you can flat iron it straight beforehand but it’s also nice to have a little texture in it as well.

Materials needed: flowers, salt spray, blow dryer, Mason Pearson brush (here’s a decent knockoff), bobby pins, hair pins

Step 1: Create a middle part and spray a lightweight salt spray on the top of your head. Blow dry the product into your hair with a Mason Pearson flat brush so the top of your head is smooth and without bumps. Now split your hair all the way down the middle and into two sections and clip one out of the way.

Step 2: You’ll start your first twist close to your hairline and above your forehead. Tightly twist your hair towards the back of your head and add hair into your twist as you go. Continue twisting until your reach the middle back of your head.

Step 3: When you reach the middle back of your head, continue twisting that section of hair without adding more hair and wrap the ends into a tight bun in the middle back of your head. Pin the bun into place by using strong bobby pins.

Step 4: Repeat the twist on the other side of your head.

Step 5: Use small hair pins (try getting some that match the color of your hair) and slide them into your twist from the beginning of your twists and working your way to the back. Keep the pins about half an inch apart from each other in order to secure it completely.

Step 6: I love replacing hairspray with a salt spray which I would suggest doing for this style. It holds your hair in place while keeping it unfussy and soft. You can also use your fingers to pull a few bits out around your hairline for added texture.

This is the loveliest hairstyle, and it doesn’t look too hard – that is always the trouble I have with tutorials! Now I just need to see if this will work on my new, shorter hair. Wish me Luck!
