Marc Jacobs shows are probably some of the anticipated shows of NYFW, there’s always at least twice the normal amount of models as a typical fashion show and there are typically bold statement hair and makeup looks. The Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 hair was every curly haired persons dream (myself included) because it totally embraces the big frizzy curls we’ve had a love/hate relationship with for our whole lives. This hairstyle was created by Guido Palau and if you don’t already have curly hair then you can just curl it with a ¾ inch iron, or set it in rag curls (old school style) then follow the tutorial below.
Materials needed: dry shampoo, hairspray, 3/4 inch curling iron, mason pearson brush (here’s a decent knockoff), large sectioning clips, bobby pins
Step 1: Shampoo, condition, and diffuse or air dry your hair with a deep side part.
Step 2: Once your hair is completely dry, begin by taking a 2” section of hair that spans across the back of your head and clip the rest of your hair on top of your head so it’s out of the way.
Step 3: Spray the 2” section of hair with dry shampoo and hairspray and then use a Mason Pearson to brush out the entire section of hair beginning at the ends and working your way up to the roots.
Step 4: Take down another 2” section of hair and repeat the steps until you reach the top of your head, leaving out a small bang section.
Step 5: Use a 3/4” curling iron and curl the bang section, then pin it into a pin curl while leaving out the ends and brush out the ends so they blend into the rest of your hair.
