I saw a story on high waisted pants last spring in Lucky. Then I saw a picture of Lindsay Lohan sporting some high waisted shorts last week. My prediction: a year from now GAP will release their new line of high waisted pants. Until then you can drop your hard earned cash on this designer pair.
This is your warning, you don’t have to embrace it today but be prepared…

My gut instinct is ‘no way jose!’ but i have to stop myself because that’s exactly what i thought two years ago about the tapered ‘skinny’ jeans. …so i’ll simply respond ‘i’ll think about it….’

I can’t wait! I am tired of looking at peoples underwear and hind quarters that they think are covered, butt … they are not! 🙂

“what not to wear” (my fasion source) has been warning for a while not that low-waisted trend was on its way out and i whole-heartedly embrace the high waisted thing. my question, though, is what do you think will happen to shirts? to you think they will get shorter? should i stock up on the long style this year before they go out with low-waisted pants?

I love it – very 70’s. I used to wear jeans like this in college.

Ugh! Do they have to be THAT high? I could tolerate them if they ended at about where the set on waist band is set on.
Really, cutting our bodies in half was unflattering in the 80s… it’s an unflattering idea today.
I say 3 inches below your belly button is just fine. Nobody gets offended there.. and butt cracks are properly covered.
I WILL RESIST THIS TREND WITH ALL MY MIGHT!!!

Also, This trend will start a resounding chorus of: “I can’t BELIEVE how big my @ss looks in these pants!!!!”
Hello? You’re just bringing your butt all the way up to your bra strap. Who is supporting this idea!!!!
Okay, I’m done now!

Please don’t shoot the messenger. 🙂
I try to be open minded about new trends because I remember being 18 and trying to explain to my 28 year old sister how pleats on pants weren’t cool anymore. She was clinging so hard to the concept. Fashion is silly and ever changing. If we stick to one era forever we will be outdated.
