Wedding Presents Help

Hi Jordan,

I am stumped. I’m in the search of a wedding present for one of my friends, and I can’t think of anything wonderful. She is one of those annoying people who already have everything. Do you have any suggestions? You are so very clever at thinking up pretty and wonderful things.

Hi Veeda,

Well, I have an opinion on this but everyone may not agree with it. STICK TO THE REGISTRY! When it comes to Birthdays and Christmas and all those holidays and events where one should give presents, you should be as creative and clever as possible in finding a cool gift for someone. But with weddings it’s all about practicality. The couple is about to get a billion gifts and they’ll appreciate if you got them something they really could use. Every situation is different but when I buy a wedding present I really try to adhere strictly to the registry. {Especially if she has everything already, let her tell you what she needs!} If you want to personalize it then add a cool candle or fancy dishsoap to something they asked for. My picks for personalization are: Cucina Hand Soap, Mrs. Meyers All Pupose Cleaner, or one of these Capri candles.

Gump’s some great unique things. I figure everyone can use an extra pitcher.

I agree, stick to the registry. I got some really large plastic butterflies for my wedding (not that any present company would consider those for anything but a white elephant) funny, I did not register for them and since I cannot conceive of the “thought” I’m not sure if it is what counts. Maybe that person just secretly hates me. 🙂 … all just kidding… Great Post!

I agree with Jordan 100 percent. My other ideas for personalizing it. If they register for a waffle maker, I get the waffle maker, but then I add some ‘real’ maple syrup from Vermont, a homemade recipe book for waffles, a cool syrup dispenser, etc. They get what they want but with a surprise.
