Place an oversized flag atop your mom’s favorite cake this Mother’s Day! She’ll know just how much you love her when she sees this flag waving in the wind. Of course, paper color, tassel color and honeycomb colors can be swapped out for her favs — my mom, for example, loves all shades of greens, so that’s what I’ll be making hers out of! Happy Mother’s Day!
Materials needed: card stock, Mother’s Day Flag Template, 3″ gold alphabet stickers (sparkly version here), one bamboo skewer, hot glue gun, embroidery thread, one 1” honeycomb ball, scissors.
Step 1: Download, print out and cut out the flag shape from the Mother’s Day Flag Template.
Step 2: Place the letters M O M on the flag – before you press down, gently peel up the tops and bottoms on the M’s and cut the edges of the stickers to make the letters match the curve of the flag.
Step 3: Using hot glue, attach the bamboo skewer to the flag, on the straight side.
Step 4: Fold a skein in half, and cut about 10 inches off one end. Cut the 10-inch piece in half.
Step 5: With one five-inch piece of thread, tie a knot in the center of the folded thread.
Step 6: With the other five-inch piece of thread, wrap the thread a few times around the bundle of thread, about ½” down from the top knot.
Step 7: Trim the bottom of the bundle of thread, cutting any visible looped ends off.
Step 8: Repeat with all four colors of pinks. Using hot glue, attach the tassels to the left side of the flag.
Step 9: Using hot glue, attach one honeycomb ball to the top of the “flag pole.”

So simple, but sweet! I don’t give my mom enough of these special little treats fro her, so I should plan something nice for mother’s day like this!
