This hairstyle is inspired by the hair Guido Palau created for the Alexander McQueen FW16 collection. I’m a sucker for anything with a moon and star motif and one of the dresses in this collection is seriously what my dreams are made of. I think this style is fun because it’s like a modern beehive, and you don’t have to overthink the accessories that much because you can use jewelry you already own.
Materials needed: jewelry for pinning (necklaces, big earrings, bracelets), hairspray, dry texture spray, mason pearson brush (here’s a decent knockoff), bobby pins, hair pins
Step 1: Generously apply hairspray and dry texture spray on your hair from roots to ends.
Step 2: Take a small round section at the crown of your head and clip it out of the way.
Step 3: Split the rest of your hair in the middle back of your head and use your Mason Pearson to brush your hair so it wraps in a circle around your head.
Step 4: Continue brushing your hair around your head so all of it is wrapped around your head. You might want to use your hand that isn’t brushing it to guide and direct your hair around your head. Your hair should more or less be staying on your head in this wrap because of all the product you have in it. If it feels like it’s not staying in place then spray more product on the surface, hairspray helps a lot at this point.
Step 5: Once it’s all wrapped around your head then place big bobby pins vertically throughout your head to keep it in place. Add more hairspray if needed.
Step 6: Unclip the section at the crown of your head and wrap it in a flat mini swirl over the crown of your head as well. Pin it in place with a couple bobby pins and hairspray.
Step 7: Pick out jewelry and pin it into your hair by sliding hair pins through the jewelry and onto your hair. It should attach easily because your hair has enough product in it so pins won’t slide out.
