We love making piñatas for parties, but sometimes they can be a little bit labor intensive. That’s why we’re big fans of piñata makeovers! It eliminates most of the mess and a lot of the crafting time! In anticipation of Halloween, we were inspired to makeover a Spiderman piñata into a spooky mummy (“Yo Mummy” jokes included!) Yo mummy so old, she got hieroglyphics on her driver’s license! Read on to see how we made it…
Materials Needed: Spiderman Piñata , white spray paint, white streamers, hot glue gun, 1 inch hole punch, 2 ½ inch hole punch, scissors, cardstock (in white and black)
Step 1: De-fringe the piñata.
Step 2: Apply an even coat of white spray paint, apply a second layer if necessary.
Step 3. Wrap a base layer of white streamers around the piñata.
Step 4: Cut out a 7 inch long oval shape out of black cardstock.
Step 5: Using a 2 ½ inch hole punch, cut out two circles for the eyes with white cardstock. Cut out the center of the eye using a 1 inch hole punch and black cardstock. Glue the center of the eye to the outer part of the white circle. Glue both eyes to the black oval shape.
Step 6: Hot glue the eye shapes onto the pinata. Then wrap the white streamers around the head of the mummy, slightly covering the eyes.
Step 7: To create texture on the mummy, cut strips of the streamers and glue to the mummy’s body and arms.
Step 8: Boo! You’re ready to party with your mummy!
