I love this piñata project because it’s completely customizable to your party needs. You can create any word that you want and use any script font at your disposal. Plus, how awesome is that ombré fringe!
Materials needed: Large pieces of Cardboard, projector, pencil, ruler, x-acto knife, paint, paintbrush, tissue paper in 4 colors, packing tape, fishing wire, hot glue gun, scissors.
Step 1: Project your word onto a piece of cardboard and slightly trace the word onto the cardboard.
Step 2: Cut out your word with an x-acto knife then trace your cutout onto another piece of cardboard and cut out.
Step 3: Cut 5” strips of cardboard to attach the two sides together. Tape the strips to one side of the cutout, creasing the cardboard so it moves easily around the inner part of the word. Then, tape the mirror image to the other side. Be sure to leave a small opening around one letter for candy stashing!
Step 4: Paint the inner parts of the letters with white paint to act as holes.
Step 4: Cut a bunch of fringe using tissue paper. Our fringe was roughly, 2” tall and 1cm wide.
Step 5: Starting with the darkest color, hot glue the fringe onto your piñata, working your way up from the bottom. You’re ready to party!

I love how customizable this DIY is… how cute would it be to make one with the birthday girl/boy’s name?!
