Here’s a little secret: everything’s cuter when blown up to GIANT proportions. Today’s DIY is the perfect example. These larger-than-life baby blocks are the perfect decoration idea for a baby shower.
These are especially great if you’re short on time or money. They require inexpensive materials (cardboard! spray paint!) and very little time to pull together.
Materials Needed: ABC letter templates, cardstock, scissors, x-acto knife, ruler, packing tape, scotch tape, 22” square corrugated cardboard boxes, spray paint (in four colors)
Step 1: Assemble cardboard boxes and secure with clear packing tape.
Step 2: Print out ABC templates onto cardstock. Make sure your printer is set to scale the template to 100% before printing.
Step 3: Cut out and assemble the square stencils from the printed templates. Using an x-acto knife, cut out the inner letter portion of the templates to complete the three stencils.
Step 4: Stick loops of tape on the back of the stencil. Center the stencil and stick it to the top side of the box. You want your stencil to lie flat, so add tape as necessary.
Step 5: Spray paint the stencil from above until you’ve achieved an even color. Let dry, then remove the stencil.
Step 6: Make sure the stencil dry completely before taping it to the next side of your box. Repeat Steps 4 and 5, spray painting the other sides with alternate colors of paint until 5 sides are painted. You’re all set for a fun block party!

These are adorable and such a simple idea. Now all I need is someone to have a baby! They’d look pretty cute in the baby’s room too.

This is adorable, can’t wait to do this for my best friend’s baby shower next month!!! I created something very similar last year for my cousin’s baby shower. It was a jungle theme so instead of putting letters on each box, I wrote out Cargo Hold on each one to go along with the rest of the decorations. I also made the boxes useable so we could fill them with all her gifts after she opened them. Made it much easier to load the car up afterwards!
