Father’s Day is June 19th this year. Celebrate your dad with these Father’s Day Cake – or Dounut – Toppers. Like this garland, they are made with items found at your local hardware store. You can easily customize your message, too, if you wish.
Materials needed: 1.5″ reflective stickers, bamboo skewers, scissors, flagging tape, thin cardboard, hot glue gun, tissue paper, wash tape (if desired).
Step 1: Cut a strip of lightweight cardboard approximately ¾” x 4” long for each word you are making.
Step 2: Peel and stick the letters for each word on a strip. (If the cardboard strip is too long, cut it before you get to your final letter).
Step 3: Using hot glue, attach the word strips to the bamboo skewers.
Step 4: Cut 6 strips of flagging about 5” long.
Step 5: Fold in half and tie, using a 4” strip, about ½” down from the fold. Using the same method, create tassels out of tissue paper, adjusting the size if you wish.
Step 6: Hot glue gun the tassels to each side of the cake topper.
Step 7: Decorate the toppers with additional tissue paper tassels or washi tape flags, if you wish.

My dad would just love this stack of donuts instead of a cake!
