When we made this marbleized ribbon last week, we also tried the technique on a piece of paper and loved the result. So we picked up a few new colors of nail polish, marbled some pieces of cardstock, and turned them into party hats! Get the easy instructions below!
Materials: Water, large baking pan, at least 4 colors of new nail polish (ours is from the dollar store,) white cardstock, skewers, scissors, acetone nail polish remover (for clean up), party hat template, x-acto knife. Optional: gloves (so you donβt get nail polish all over your hands), crepe paper & ribbon (for decorating)
Step 1: First, make sure you’re working in a well-ventilated space. Then marbleize the paper and let it dry. If you’ve never marbleized with nail polish, you can use this tutorial we did a few weeks ago – just replace the ribbon with a sheet of white cardstock. Allow the paper to dry overnight.
Step 2: Use this template to create your party hats. You can find a detailed tutorial here.
Step 3: Decorate with fringe and ribbon.
Step 4: Enjoy!

Hi! Where would you dry this paper – on a drying rack? Hanging? Just flat? Would love to do marbleized paper like this for my wedding invitations π
We just layed them out flat to dry. The nail polish dries super fast – the longest part is just waiting for the paper to totally dry.

I love these! I’ve seen similar posts for actual nail art with the nail polish, but not paper! Will have to try these. Thanks!
