Nothing says PARTY like a piñata. Decorate your cake with this miniature Mexican Star Piñata – just make sure no one tries to smash it when you aren’t looking. These mini-piñatas are so cute – you can also use them to make a one-of-a-kind children’s mobile. (PS – More Pinatas DIYs here!)
Materials needed: Cupcake liners, tissue paper, scissors, glue gun, 2” Styrofoam balls, paint, paintbrush, bamboo skewers
Step 1: Stick the foam ball on the skewer, paint it and let dry.
Step 2: Cut a 3” x ¾” piece of tissue paper, fold in half lengthwise, and cut fringe into the strips. Set aside.
Step 3: Fold a cupcake liner in half, then fold in half again to find the midpoint. Open liner, dab fringe strips with a small amount of glue, and attach to the midpoint.
Step 4: Gently twist the liner into a hat shape and secure it with hot glue. Repeat 5 more times, to create 6 “hats.”
Step 5: With hot glue, attach the hats to each side of the Styrofoam ball.
Step 6: Cut a 4” x ¾” strip of tissue paper. Fold in half lengthwise, and fringe the short side. With hot glue, attach fringed strip around base of hat, where it attaches to the Styrofoam ball. Repeat for each hat.
Additional materials needed for Mini Piñata Mobile: 10” embroidery hoop, yarn
Step 1: Create 3 mini piñatas using the instructions above.
Step 2: Attach piñatas to hoop with yarn.
Step 3: Attach yarn to top of hoop for hanging.
Step 4: Hang well out of reach of baby or toddler hands!

Where were the fab scallop rainbow tablecloths from (or are those unfolded napkins?)?

Hi Katie – Good eyes you have – yes, those are unfolded napkins. I think from Target, but probably last year. Thanks for your comment! Chiara
