Spider Web Cake Topper DIY

Did you know it only takes an hour for a spider to spin a web? That’s about how long it takes to create this simple cake topper using just a sheet of paper. Then attach a plastic spider for the final touch.  Make sure your guests do not get caught in your web when you serve them cake!

Materials needed: Spider Web Template, X-acto Knife, Cutting Mat or Cardboard Surface, Skewers, Glue

Step 1: Print out a spider web template. (I used this one – but there are many others online).
Step 2: Carefully cut out the gray spaces. Be sure to use a new or sharp blade!
Step 3: Place the spider web on a flat surface out and determine the best sides to attach the two skewers.
Step 4: Cut off any extra web that won’t fit between the two skewers.
Step 5: Dab glue on all the points where skewers cross web.
Step 6: Cut off any extra web on the points where the web is glued to the sticks.
Step 7: Attach a plastic spider with glue, or simply by hooking it on to the web.
