Father’s Day Hardware Store Garland DIY

Who says party decorations need to come from the party store or the craft store? Here’s a father’s Day project that doesn’t involve golf references or ties of any sort – made out of items purchased entirely at the hardware store. One quick stop and a few dollars later, and you’ll have a custom garland (make it say anything you want!) to celebrate Father’s Day.

Materials needed: Alphabet stickers, twine, paint swatches, scissors, hole punch

Step 1: Choose your letters and punch holes in the top left and right corners of each (leave the sticker backing on).
Step 2: Cut triangles out of paint swatches and punch holes in the top left and right corners.
Step 3: Lay out your message and thread the twine in and out of the punched holes, being careful to keep everything in order.
Step 4: Hang and enjoy!

I love this idea! This is our second fathers day in our house and Daddy is getting a toolbox and tie (just for traditions sake), but this garland will be perfect to greet him along with his gift!

I think I may get the materials and let my 9-yr old daughter be in charge of the actual creation–she will love having made it herself to decorate for Fathers Day. This is a great idea because it’s so simple but still really cool!
