Springy Paper Garland DIY

Did you see last month’s DIY Paper Net Garland post? This cut paper garland  is a variation on them. Make these springy hanging garlands with just paper, glue, and scissors! Wouldn’t they be fun hanging in a doorway at your next party?

Materials: Colored paper, ruler, scissors, glue stick, string

Step 1: Cut your paper into 4″ squares.
Step 2: Fold each square in half and then in half again.
Step 3: Make evenly spaced cuts on the triangle, 3 on the bottom edge and 3 on the top edge, as shown below.
Step 4: Carefully unfold all the cut triangles and flatten.
Step 5: On the first square, apply glue to each of the four corners and attach another square on top.
Step 6: On the square you just attached, apply glue to the center and attach a third square.
Step 7: Continue attaching squares in this way, alternating between gluing the corners and the centers. Let dry completely.
Step 8: To hang the garland as pictured, tie a piece of string through the center cut on one end of the garland.

Such an interesting shape and pattern. It has a retro vibe to it that I really enjoy.

Fun project! Since I love colour, I would use multiple colours, instead of just one!
