Wooden Cake Plates

There are so many beautiful wooden cakeplates and pedestals out there these days. I like them because it makes a cake look a little more organic and rough than a shiny white cakestand. Here is a little round up of some of my favorites. Any of them strike your fancy?

A. Cherry Cake Stand B. Medium Maple Pedestal C. Square Natural Beauty Cake Stand D. Large Wedding Cake Stand E. Venezia Wooden Pedestal Stand F. Oak Cake Stand

We had some rustic, bark-on, wooden cakeplates made up for our wedding. But I’m liking these, more elegant selections. Great choices!

Ooh! I never thought about a wooden cake stand! I really love the oak and cherry cake stands, which is strange because I always end up choosing the pricey ones out of the bunch.

That’s so weird! I’ve been turning wood all week because I want to add turned cake plates to my final show (I’m in furniture school). I’m taking this as a sign I’m on the right track.

A & F – I love the organic lines of the natural grain. My friend’s husband turns bowls and makes other gorgeous wood pieces, including baby rattles. I would love to see him do something like this.

When I got married (six years ago next weekend!) we had square cakes. Because I love squares. But you would not believe how difficult it was to find a square cake stand. In the end, our pastry chef fashioned something that did the job, but that square wooden one above would’ve been perfect for our autumn vineyard wedding. hmmm… maybe we’ll just have to throw another party so we have an excuse to use that pretty stand. And eat cake 😉

I JUST got one at an antique store for $16 when I was back in the States. It’s my new favorite addition to our home!

Love love love the square one.- Looks pretty easy to make with a cut board from hardware store and a big wooden pillar candle holder…. Hint hint 😉
