Paper Party Necklace

This week I worked with Chloe Fleury on some really fun paper party ideas. If you don’t know Chloe’s work, she is a crazy talented paper artist (see her website here.) The first project we are sharing today is a paper party necklace that Chloe came up with. It is such an original idea. Instead of a party hat or a crown of flowers you can give your guest of honor a festive necklace to wear. I love this idea for a birthday party or a shower. You can change the style or colors of your necklace depending on the theme of the party. It is a really easy project, it took about 20 minutes to make the necklace. Materials Needed: Free Template (Click to Download), Crepe Paper Folds in Silver, Grey, and White, Black Tissue Paper, Black Cardstock, Scoring Spatula, Ruler, Scissors, Tacky Glue, Xacto Knife

To Make the Braids: Cut three thin long strips of crepe paper and tape them down on one end. Braid them! For the necklace we made three braids. Two white that make up the main necklace and then one that is grey.

To Make the Tassel: Fold a piece of black tissue paper in half and cut fringe. Roll up the fringe and glue to make a tassel.

To Make the 3-D Star: Print the free template out. Cut the star shape out and score each line (straight and dotted) with a scoring tool (or a butter knife) so that it is easy to bend. Bent the straight lines one direction and the dotted lines the other direction so it creates a geometric 3-D Star.

Anything with tassels and stars on it is automatically awesome. Cannot stop obsessing over the 3D star!

Can’t believe it’s made of paper! As it happens, I just bought some crepe paper yesterday. That can’t be a coincidence:p
