Letterpress Classes

I am happy to announce that I will be teaching letterpress classes in my art studio here in San Francisco. The class description:

In this beginning class students will print their own business cards (or calling cards) and learn the basics* of printing with lead type and photopolymer plates on a proof press. This a great way to get your toes wet and get a feel for how letterpress works. Students will either choose a design from the options below or else submit their own design a week in advance. Everyone will go home with 250 one-color business cards printed on Crane’s white cotton paper.

Class Size: 8 Students
Cost: $125 (includes material fees)

Saturday March 28, 2009 10am-2pm (You’ll have a break to get some lunch.)

{Update: This class is full but email me if you would like to be on the waiting list or are interested in attending a future class.}

How to register:

1. Send me an email to confirm you would like to take the class. After you receive confirmation I will bill you via paypal.

2. Once you have submitted payment then send me an email with your choice of design (see options below) and the information you would like on the card. (We can’t change the design of the cards too much but the icons or logos can be switched out to one of your choosing.)

3. The deadlines to both sign up and submit your material for your cards is March 18th. There will be one round of revisions after your proof is sent to you.

*If you are looking for in depth classes I recommend taking a series from The Center for the Book.

    I wish I could do this, but my baby is five months old and nursing. Please do this again. And, on an unrelated note, my niece was hospitalized when she was two with lead poisoning because she had sucked on moveable type. A freak thing, but something to be careful about.
