I went to an amazing party last evening. Our friends Anna and Erik hosted a little open house for their new baby Thad. First of all they live in an amazing loft. Among other things Anna is a stylist so her home looks straight out of a magazine. She had an amazing spread of gourmet and exotic chocolates laid out on little dark brown platforms, and gourmet malt balls in jars. Everything was beautiful, modern, and delicious. There were amazing balloon sculptures made that hung from their high loft ceilings. And a festive flag garland hung above the chocolate spread. Besides the cookies, everything else was bought from little bakeries or boutiques. Making it pretty stress free for the hostess–which is the best kind of party.

You have to find out how to make those balloon sculptures. Those look like they are right downmy alley.

What are the “platforms” for the very classy display of chocolates? Tiles?

The balloons were professionally made. I’m sure you could figure it out but I wouldn’t know where to start.
The bunting flags were also made professionally although I’m not sure where she bought them. I’ve seen similar things on etsy.
The platforms are boxes she got at Flax here in SF.

Yeah…I dunno. Those Campbell’s are a mighty pretentious bunch. No decoration or theme could atone for how boring the conversation must have been.

Love the party! So cute. I know Land of Nod carries banners like that (http://www.landofnod.com/spill.aspx?c=1270&pc=70), although they’re really easy to make. Cheap, too, if you make them out of pretty paper.
