For Christmas my mom gave me this little gold baby ring. It was my dad’s when he was a baby. I LOVE it. My dad died when I was seventeen so it is extra meaningful. I went to pick it up after being repaired yesterday so we tried it on Moses. {The second picture is of my dad wearing the necklace as a baby.}

What an honor. I’m sorry you lost your father so early. His bride can carry it down the isle pinned to her crinoline for something old.

Love it. I lost my father years ago also. Do you baptize babies in the LDS church? We (Presbyterian, PCA) sprinkle babies when they are a few months old and I pinned a scrap of family McKenzie tartan to the slip of the christening gown my sons wore with a gold pin that was my great grandmothers. If you baptize (or have some other religous service) I would have him wear the ring. It’s a way to honor and remember the ones who have gone before us. I know that my father lives on now, but concrete connections to his family bring him back here for me just a little bit.

I think baby rings were still common when i was a baby, too. my mom has one for me and one for my sister. i never knew what to do with it. it sure looks cute around your dad’s neck. are you going to let Moses wear his or are you worried about the choking hazard?

What a treasure! These things are some of the most meaningful in life. I am sure it will mean the world to Moses when he is grown & sees these two pictures.

Oh that makes me want to cry! My dad just passed away a little over a month ago and I only wish I had something so sweet as that ring to have for remembrance. What a wonderful treasure to have.
