I’ve never been baby hungry {that I’m aware of} but I suspect it is close to what I feel when I read the back issues of Martha Stewart Baby. Seriously, everything is so beautiful, handmade, soft and in good taste. It is the opposite of what I feel when I go into a chain baby store. Who out there is buying things with cartoon characters on it? Someone is, because everywhere I go is bad, bad design. 🙂
You can buy the back issues off Ebay or call Martha.

I always joke that a trip to Babies ‘R Us is one big shot of birth control, especially if you don’t already have kids.

Pre-baby I swore I would never buy Disney characters, Elmo, Dora or Barney. But when I am driving and my daughter is hysterically crying in the back seat and I have to blindly reach around for something–anything–to make her stop, I do not even question Elmo or Dora. I just thrust them at her and she smiles.

I couldn’t agree with you more about baby chain stores. Yikes! It takes some effort to find tasteful baby items but they can be found. Don’t you worry. When considering a baby bouncer, check out the new Baby Bjorn Baby Sitter 1-2-3 in dark midnight blue (not the check). It’s neutral, understated, portable, and also blends in nicely. I also like the Maclaren Easy Traveler for baby’s first 12 months. It is very simple. Tea Collection baby clothes are fab too. Good luck!

I made these cute little booties for a few of my girlfriends–and they loved it and surprisingly it came out just as cute. In the baby issue, there is instructions and a pattern.

i really hope there is a movement to craft baby items, and kids items, that aren’t loudly colored and plastered with pink monkeys, disney characters and sparkles.

I couldn’t agree more. There are very few plain, classy baby items. So many hearts and animals and “Thank heaven for blah-blah-blah!” I have searched all over for PLAIN WHITE COTTON gowns..you know, the kind with the elastic bottom–good for a quick change of a newborn–I can’t find them anywhere.
