Since the space in our bedroom is precious we’re really trying to simplify the layout. 80% of our clothing will fit in our closet but we want our bedside tables to act double duty as folded clothing storage. {That way we won’t need a large dresser or armoire.} I am looking for two chests of drawers around 30″ high. This kind of piece is surprisingly hard to find {or at least harder than I thought}. But the biggest problem I’m having is trying to decide what style to choose. This is where I really need the help of a designer. Here are my favorites : Mirrored Chest, Lowry Chest, Ikea Hemnes Chest, Moorish Chest.

What does the rest of your furniture in your room look like?

Well, we’re probably getting a new bed so I will make the decision together.

That moorish chest is beautiful but at that price that’s a big commitment. It’s stunning though.

I am quite partial to the mirrored chest. A fabulous eye-catching piece like this can really be incorporated into any style of room, from modern to traditional to romantic. Plus it is a piece that will look good forever.

Hmm… I say go Ikea. If this was something you’d have forever, splurge. But since I know you’re not planning on being there for more than a few years, go the cheaper route.
You could always put new hardware on it to spruce it up.

I love the mirrored chest and it could really open up the space. I would stick with that or the hemnes one from ikea because those pieces seem pretty classic and could have good versatility down the road.

yay! thats what we do in our bedroom (gotta love apt living) we knew that we werent going to have dressers as bedside tables forever so we went with ikea and then painted them a color to compliment our green farmhouse bed and then i bought some knobs and wala! they looks super expensive and they were like $100 each :0) you can see ours here http://www.flickr.com/photos/15609918@N03/1679383704/
plus i love how much room i have on my bedside “table” now.

I would never want to clean all the fingerprints and handprints on the mirror dresser. (says mother of four.)
We have an Ikea dresser for my boys and it has been surprisingly durable.

I too would not like the fingerprint issue with the mirrored one–that’s the first thing I thought of when i saw it–mom of 3 boys here. It might also be more difficult to handle if you move a lot.

The last one for sure.
I think mirror would be to hard to keep clean after the baby is walking around.

i vote for the mirrored chest and hiring a maid.

i vote mirrored chest. you could really incorporate that into any space and play it up or tone it down. the price is a tough one though! especially when you need two.

Steve and I just bought a Hemnes bed and two of their dressers from this line for our new bedroom and we love it. I say go for it! I love the yellow you posted…we went w/the dark brown.

I would put the mirrored chest on one side and the moorish chest on the other. They compliment each other without being too matchy. They’ll last forever and they can be used in other parts of the house if you ever want to mix it up.

My sister-in-law has the mirrored ones in her black/white and pale pink bedroom.. they are stunning. But I like the yellow one the best. So cheerful.

I love the mirrored one. It’s gorgeous, but it really will be so dirty with your little one. My next favorite is the ikea one in yellow. Very nice.

The Moorish chest is gorgeous, though the price tag is a bit steep. Whatever you choose, I can’t wait to see pictures! 🙂

fingerprints aren’t a huge deal with windex wipes handy. The problem with the mirrored pieces is that they chip on the edges. They are best for places that aren’t used much. SO pretty though. I would put two mirrored boxes in a stack on a simple chest. A high lacquered chest would be just as neat but tougher. Have you tried highfashionhome.com (see Dec O or mondo) Ikea’s is nice but probably not an investment.
