I am an advent calendar kind of girl. I’ve already been planning this year’s activities. This year we’re going to do a combo of small gift exchange and holiday activities.
For example:
December 1: Go Ice Skating
December 2: Watch It’s a Wonderful Life, make spiced cider.
December 3: Exchange gifts
December 4: Make Christmas Cookies for friends.
December 5: Find Mistletoe, hang it in our house and kiss under it.
December 6: Address and Mail Christmas Cards
December 7: Go to Borders and Pick out one new Christmas CD.
December 8: Go to The Nutcracker
etc. etc. etc.
Sometimes the activities are simple and sometimes they take up the whole evening. I told Paul he is responsible for getting me five small gifts. That way it is a surprise for me too.
I wrap the advent calendar up in 25 little boxes and wrap them cute {I’ll post pictures when they are done, sometime around Thanksgiving.} Although I’m tempted to spring for this mitten one from Garnet Hill I saw this morning on Apartment Therapy Nursery. Super cute.

oh I used to love opening up the boxes each day. I’d even beg my parents to let me open them early. of course I never got to, but the anticipation killed me.
cute idea!

I’ve been prepping for my advent calendar, too. The mittens are cute! I’m going to hang brightly colored socks (my kids’) with clothespins and yarn on our mantel. I can’t wait!

I absolutely love this idea! Hope you don’t mind but I may just have to “borrow” some of your ideas. Not sure if my husband will go for all of the activities but I sure do he will. What a fun way to spend the holiday season. Thank you so much for sharing!

Jordan–For some reason blogger won’t let me kink to it–but I’d love it if you came over to my blog to take a peek at my advent calendar I did last year. You’ll have to click on November or December in the archives to see it. My husband and I had so much fun doing it. Also, I left some of the notes in the socks when I packed it away and got to read them this weekend when I drug it all out to hang up. I cried like a crazy lady– (keep in mind, I am 8.5 months pregnant!) I can’t wait to get started on December 1. This year we will have a newborn…so we are adding her into the mix every third day.
I’m sure whatever you do will be great!
