Buying a Rug

The wood floors in our new apartment are dangerously slippery. Paul even made a rule I couldn’t walk around in socks because I almost died like four times already. Getting a rug shot to the top of the priorities list. Even though it is pretty boring I think we are going with the Henley rug in taupe. I may eventually move it into the bedroom if I want to be more adventurous with the decor. I was inspired by this fantastic loft.

Actually, those rugs looks great. I hope you get one, too and no more slipping!

You are not allowed to fall down. Be careful. 🙂

Well, the good thing about a neutral rug is that you will always be able to incorporate it.

YOu should get some of those “rad” socks with the grippy bottoms. No slipping allowed for the soon-to-be-mommy!

We have that very rug in red in our dining room. Love it, though because of the dark solid color, every little crumb, thread, fuzz shows up immediately.

Shopping for my family room now, we are going for a more adventurous and family friendly (read: hide the stains and little stuff) rug. Quite possibly a shag or moulin rouge stripe from Crate and Barrel.

    Enjoy your blog! Happy nesting.

I love that your husband made that rule. True love, that is. Pick a rug that your baby can spit-up on. Perhaps one with lots of spots.

we had that rug and ended up taking it back a year later. the fuzz killed us. and our weak vacuum even pulled out chunks. love that pottery barn return policy.

Ooo…I have this one in red. I, too, was hoping for something more adventurous, but it’s been the perfect rug. And I can always change other elements in the room to liven it up.

    Congrats!

    P.S. Love your blog!

Don’t worry about baby spit up and your nice things – baby wipes are the answer. If you get it right away, it will take it off your couch, your rug, your bedspread – without any stains. Trust me, I know from experience. Baby wipes are magical things!

I can confirm that this rug produces a lot of fuzz. I have it, but still love it. It’s easy to clean. I have a puppy and it still looks brand new…

Paul’s rule is a good one! No more “almost dying,” okay Jordan?!! Scott’s rule during my pregnancies was “no flip flops.” Probably saved my life (and the babies’) multiple times!

That’s a great rug. You might also want to check out Flor – either http://www.interfaceflor.com or at Design Within Reach (it’s not terribly pricey). We have Flor in our living room and love it.

I remember searching for rugs when I lived in the city. I actually found some on sale at anthropologie for a REALLY good deal. I also found out you can pick a type of carpet you like at Home Depot and they can just cut it and bind it for you and it is pretty inexpensive as well. Good luck!

I hate looking for rugs because there are many that come close, but nothing is perfect (unless you want to spend a zillion dollars). Nate and I ended up with a traditional Persian which I love, but it has it’s downsides, too. For instance, it’s less adventurous.

We have that rug and, unfortunately, it’s been a huge disappointment. The quality is awful and it sheds like mad–which is the worst when you have black furniture that shows all of it!

we also have the rug in red, and i have a friend who had it in green. it really isn’t good quality and fills our vacume with red fuzz in 30 seconds.
