Buying a couch is high on our priority list because of timing. It is frustrating when you do all the research and decide what model and fabric to get and you go to the store and pay out one or two months worth of rent, and then it usually takes about 12 weeks to get it back. This is maddening if you already spent a month or two deciding what you wanted in the first place. So even though I don’t want to think about a new couch for another month or two I’m forcing myself to think about it now so that it will arrive by the end of the year.
We stopped by Room and Board‘s HUGE store in Potrero Hill on Saturday to check out a few models I’d been eying online. I’ve never bought anything from Room & Board but I was so impressed with all their color and fabric options. I also loved that they had nearly every model on display in their three-level show room. If I wasn’t with-child I would totally get a holiday job there. {I love employee discounts.} We’re thinking we want two smallish sofas or one sectional. The sofas pictured are: André, Hutton, Wells, and Lenox.

the gray one on the bottom is dreamy … with yellow pillows on it – i like that it doesnt look like a frumpy sectional … but i love sectionals cuz you can snuggle with your hunny on one couch and still be comfy

gray couch fyi: this fabric is no longer available, they have updated it with a shinier fabric, and there is a 3-4 week waiting period. It’s very nice!

Definitely the blue velvet 🙂

The Wells couch is the best! It’s a timeless design and since it’s leather it should really last long enough to test my timeless theory!

As a mother of 17 month old twin boys, my only suggestion is to get one that is easily cleaned, and not light in color. When they were born we had an old set that was sort of a very light tan…by the time they were 1, I’d had it and I went out and bought a new set. Unless you’re going to have it in a room that your child will not be allowed in (and that you will never lay them down on it, even before they can roll) make sure you stay away from light colors! 🙂

I totally recommend the section. We had a baby last January – and I can’t tell you how nice it has been to be able to put my feet up and nurse. Also, the dark fabrice, so versatile and hides dirt – not that your couch will get dirty. We are big fans of Room & Board. Great store!

I own the Lenox in gray and I love it. It’s much more comfortable than you’d think based on how sleek it looks. And I actually have yellow pillows on it, too!

We have the York. It wasn’t our first choice in terms of looks, but we were won over by the comfort. It’s also a sleeper and all our guests report that it’s a surprisingly good sleep.

I love the sectional — we thought about that but didn’t have enough space in our apartment! With a baby I’d think dark color too. Or maybe a slip cover? Or, screw it, its just furniture!

I love Room & Board furniture. Just a friendly hint, in the interior design industry we say “sofa”

Hmmm, difficult choices. Thanks for mentioning Room and Board. I’m starting to hunt for a new sofa, and these look great!
