Soft Pools of Light

Speaking of lighting, I loved the post Nick Olsen did about how to light a room. Paul is picky about lighting. He hates overhead lighting and is the first one to go around one by one and turn on all the lamps just so he doesn’t have to look at everything in the big glaring light. Nick’s description of his ideal lighting situation sounds like heaven: “If I could rewire my apartment every light source would operate on one switch with a mega-dimmer.”

When I own a house that is how I’m setting up my lighting. In the meantime we’ll just have to live with our manual system. But I am taking his advice about the low wattage pink bulbs.

I saw the same post on these bulbs…and I am totally going to buy some. I hate harsh lighting too, and these seems like such a pretty solution!

You know, you can totally paint your lightbulbs. I’ve done it for years- just use accrylic paint, and make sure they are really dry before using them.

A swirl of paint goes a long way- and apply it thinly, but other than that, you can go whatever shade of pinks (or lavender)you need.

YES, Paul!! Overhead lighting is SO depressing and irritating.
