Rethinking JCPenny

I always feel happily surprised when I discover a brand I’ve long dismissed comes out with beautiful things. I don’t think I’ve set foot in a JCPenny for ten years but I was browsing through Domino’s Design Project {they got a bunch of rad designers and had them decorate an apartment building for people living with AIDS.} On a side note browse through the rooms here, they are inspiring.} The prices are SO CHEAP! Things I love: Venetian Mirror, Mirrored side Cabinet, Mirrored Etagere, and Freeport Kitchen Pantry. Nice work JCPenny.

They are really coming up in the world over there at Penny’s. I understand that they choose designers who are more consumer motivated and then market to specific population segments like young professional. Everything they are doing seems to be working. One of my cousins buys all her clothing there and I don’t know anyone who dresses cuter. However, our Penny’s is small, poorly lit and dopey so I am looking online instead. Great post!

that Domino article surprised me as well. They did such rad stuff using mostly Target, Penney’s and Pier 1. I was so delighted to see that there were lots of beautiful things I could afford to do right now without cracking open my 401K.

The etagere is no longer on their web site – wonder what happened!?!
I loved it and was thrilled that JCP would offer a product like this.
