Here are all the living plants in my apartment right now.
1. Pale Peach Dahlias-From the Farmers Market this Saturday.
2. Topiary-I keep a pretty pair of scissors nearby for trimmings. (it currently needs a cut)
3. Succulents-These guys are robust and very hard to kill.
4. Orchids-I get my Orchids from the Farmer’s MArket and they usually last me 3-4 months. I’ve had a lot of success with these guys.
5. Lemon Tree- (not shown) I don’t have a picture of my lemon tree because it is on my fire escape and I didn’t feel like going out there to get a sad little picture.

I had a limequat tree before the ivy topiary. It did okay for a while, but I don’t think citrus like SF in general.

I have managed to kill my African heather which was the prettiest color pink. At the same time I also managed to deny even one bloom from my gardenia and it eventually died. Now I’m down to a coffee plant. Plan to read and learn how to better care for plants so I can sleep in peace.

The topiary will grow forever. Did you see the tall ones in Domino this month. Mine will be that tall in 7 years.

Hi Nicole!!!
Well, my only trick with orchids is when I buy my orchid (from the orchid guy at the farmers market) I ask him how long it should last and he gives me an approximate time. That way when it dies I know it was just the orchid and not me. Then I keep it in a sunny place (but not direct sunlight) and water it once a week. I take it to the kitchen sink and let water run on it for about a minute. Then put it back in its pot.
