Here in a city as liberal as SF there are a lot of extra perks given to everyone. One of the very best perks is paternity leave. In California if you work for the State and you adopt or your wife has a child they give you paid time off for up to six weeks. Such a great idea. Well my friends had a baby a few months ago and just three weeks after the baby was born they boarded a plane to the South of France. They rented a villa there and spent the next three months hanging out and traveling in Europe. I thought it was brilliant. If you are taking time off to be with your new family you might as well take time off to be with your family in Europe.
