Jill’s Wedding

One of my good friends, Jill, got married on the fly this month and now she is putting together a little reception in October. The reception is an evening garden party in the yard of her mother’s house. Jill here are some ideas/inspirations for your reception.

1. I love the line up of vases with all the fruit. This would be really appropriate for fall. If you did something like this and then lined it with a ton of votive candles I think it give it a really warm ambiance.

2. If you are doing a wedding at home its good to make sure there are plenty of signs to make sure people know where to park, etc. I love charming details like this reception sign. Things can be functional and cute.

3. I’m not a fan of this color green but I like draping flowers or a colorful ribbon over chairs. Keep it simple and modern so it doesn’t look corny (no tulle allowed). These chairs are called chivari chairs. The are the best but usually expensive to rent. A nice alternative would be a white clean wooden chair. (White looks SO crisp and clean in a green garden.) I also like the little topiary on the table. Reminds me of this wedding.

4. Lights are so festive. You could do strands of round globe lights or the big round chinese lanterns or these paper bag lights. {All these pictures from theknot.com}

    I love the pictures! I have to help put on a ball after Paul’s unit comes home and we will definitely do the pictures.

    What else could you suggest?

    If I don’t go to the next meeting with ideas it is going to end up looking like a very bad wedding reception or a prom.
