Hanging Paper Installation

Today’s DIY was inspired by Emmanuelle Moureaux’s installation for the 2013 Shinjuku Creator’s Festa in Japan. It’s really easy to pull together at the last minute, but make a HUGE impact. All you need is Canford Cardstock (in rainbow colors) and some basic supplies like string, scissors, and hooks. Hang it up over a table at your next dinner party!

Materials Needed: Pencil, straight-edge ruler1/2″ x 30 1/2″ sheets of Canford Cardstock (in rainbow colors), scissorswhite thread3m small wire hooks1/16″ hole punchScotch tape

Step 1: Mark out a rectangle on the ceiling, in pencil, a bit longer than the length of your table and the width of the Canford cardstock. Draw a parallel line to the length across the center of the rectangle as well.

Step 2: Making note of the rectangle’s length and the number of sheets of cardstock, mark “x”s along the length of the rectangle so each sheet can be evenly spaced apart. Make a matching “x” on the opposite length of the rectangle, and along the centerline.

Step 3: Cut pieces of thread 33” long. You’ll need 3 per sheet of paper, so cut a bunch! Then, tie one end of each strand to a ceiling hook.

Step 4: Attach a ceiling hook to each “x” on the ceiling.

Step 5: Punch three holes at the top of each sheet of paper, one at each corner and the center.

Step 6: Tie the end of the thread through each hole, loop, and knot. Add a piece of tape for extra security. Attach the rest of the sheets of paper and you’re all set!

Normally, I’d just hear this idea & think WEIRD!
    …but it looks amazing!

Maybe someday I’ll be brave enough to try it.

Wow!! This simply looks awesome. Though the idea seem to be quite convoluted but going by the pictures here, one can really hope to pull it all up together as effortlessly as it come across in the images. This just proves you don’t need any elaborately dramatic decor to make your party happening. A simple line of thought such as this can create quite an impact with ease.
