I fell in LOVE with the decorations at this baby shower – so much so that I was inspired to create a miniature version for a cake topper, using the rainbow pack of honeycomb paper from the Oh Happy Day Shop. This would be equally as cute for a boy baby shower using the blues, greens and white colors, or a girl baby shower with magenta, light pink, red, and white!
Materials needed: honeycomb paper pad, scissors, pencil, double stick tape, two bamboo skewers, string or twine, thread and needle.
Step 1: Begin with the magenta honeycomb paper. Cut out a half of a 2″ diamond shape. Be sure you are holding the paper with the glue lines running horizontally. Pinch the paper tight as you cut it, to avoid the layers shifting as you cut.
Step 2: Trace the shape you just cut out and repeat step 1.
Step 3: Using double stick tape, attach the two pieces together.
Step 4: Gently pull the honeycomb paper open; twist around so each flat side faces the other. Using double stick tape, attach the ends together. (This can be tricky, try not to crush the honeycomb shape as you do this).
Step 5: Take the red paper, and cut out a 2″ half circle (a juice glass makes a good template). Repeat Steps 2 through 4.
Step 6: Continue alternating with diamonds and circles as you make your way through the colors of the rainbow.
Step 7: Thread the needle and make a loop through each honeycomb shape, leaving about a extra few inches of thread on each one.
Step 8: Tie each end of approx. 8″ length of string to the top of each skewer.
Step 9: Carefully tie each honeycomb shape to the string, in rainbow order (Although it appears, what that order is, exactly, is still up for debate!)

so lovely!
might want to reconsider gender stereotyping regarding colors! this type of talk can really hurt young people and contributes to myriad problems in our culture 🙁
