My Party Closet: Yellow Party
Beautiful parties don’t always require a lot of energy. Most of the time, I can whip up something special within a couple hours – thanks to the supplies I always keep stocked in my party closet. For this party we pulled out of my stash: some crepe paper folds, my roll of white butcher paper, treat bags, striped napkins, and some tall candles. The giant fringe number makes a big impact and is perfect for kids. It took 1-2 hours to make but once it was completed, everything else came together quickly. (See the complete DIY here.) We crafted the tablecloth by painting loose yellow stripes onto white butcher paper and cutting scallops around the edges. After that, it just took a quick run to the party store and bakery to fill my balloons with helium, purchase favors for the gift bags, and pick up a yellow cake. Voila! A simple and easy party.
Still wondering what to stock in your party closet? See mine and get some ideas here. And don’t miss the Rainbow Streamer Party we put together on Tuesday! ps: the floral tray is from here.

I absolutely love all of this very bright yellow!!
Love this! Did you put a special frosting on the cake to get the bright yellow, or did you purchase it that way? Also, where is the floral tray from? Looks gorgeous and I’d love to get one too, if still available.
The tray is from Furbish I forgot to add the hyperlink but it is fixed now!
We special ordered the cake to be yellow. No additional frosting!
The butcher paper tablecloth is so nice because then you can just toss it when the party is over. I am all about easy clean up afterwards.
I love yellow! Great ideas….I want that cake stand! Where did you purchase it?
The cake stand is from West Elm. But I just checked their website, and it looks like they’re sold out. Sorry!
This is my favorite party you have ever designed. So simple and fun! In a time where party planning can get so costly (and stressful!) I’m loving that you are sharing your tips for utilizing what you have on hand and adding a few thoughtful touches. A little really does go a long way! Thanks for the loads of inspiration – couldn’t have come at a better time!
So glad you’re enjoying our new series. We love to inspire!
Love a simple yet festive ‘do’. So achievable & fun. This is great! And I’m sure it was a winner for the birthday-ee! : )
What’s with the skimpy piece of cake?
Love this series! Very inspiring and beautiful. I wish I could peek inside the favor bags to see what’s in them!
So sunny and cute! Can you explain what you did to get the table paper to hang down flat on the corners? It looks like there ,ay be two layers of paper?
Hi Julie! We folded the corners like a present and taped the seams.
I love the idea of having a closet full of materials to make any event special!! Great example of how you use your party closet.
How absolutely lovely!! Made me feel all springy and happy (while it snows outside
