Braid Bar Recap
We had our first craft night of our new series sponsored by Bing. The idea behind craft nights is to get everyone together to hang out offline and to learn something new. Craft Nights are free, you just have to register for a spot. (The next two are being announced below.) My friend Rebecca Wright has been helping me plan them and she has done such a great job. For the first one Rubi Jones came and taught us how to do a Braided Chignon. Rubi helped us handpick her favorite hair+beauty products for this gift bag.
Rebecca screenprinted these totes “Happy” totes that Lisa Congdon hand lettered for us.
Rubi swears by these Spornette round brushes (see reasons here.) They are Italian crafted brushes made from wood and boar bristle. Spornette was so sweet to send over samples for all the attendees.
Samantha Hahn made these lovely illustrations with Rubi and then we letterpressed them. Rubi says these Muji bobby pins are super hard to find because hairstylists go in and buy them completely out. They are super sturdy and keep your hair in place all day. Malin + Goetz sent us some samples of: Grapefruit Face Cleanser, Vitamin E Face Moisturizer, Detox Face Mask, Moisturizing Shampoo, and Sage Styling Cream. And Paul designed these calendars with Bing which we letterpressed and then dip-dyed the paper in a light blue dye.
Fat & The Moon is a cool natural beauty company that makes the most beautiful products in small batches. They are amazing!
All the attendees got one of these awesome hugs and smooches pins from Bando. They make the best hair accessories ever so I was stoked they sent over some goodies for the attendees.
Thank you to everyone who came and to everyone who helped put it on and to all of our sponsors. It was so great to meet everyone in person! I’m really excited to announce the next two Craft Nights. I will put an announcement up and open registration with the details a week before the event. Remember, craft nights are free but it is $20 to hold your spot (that is 100% refunded the night of the event.)

Love the letterpress so sail cards we printed in your studio; a thousand thanks!
So sail? Those would be fun, too; I meant social calling cards.
I’m so excited for this series. The idea to actually get out and do something rather than just read about it is great.

This is such a great idea! Let us Boston ladies know if you ever host satellite craft nights through blogger-friends!
Now I’m regretting not signing up for the first craft night
Looks like it was a great night. I must make sure I sign up for the one (or both!) of the next two. I’m sure they will be fantastic
GAH! Those totes are SO GREAT.
What a fantastic idea! You should do this… in Melbourne Australia!
Where is craft night exactly?
Hello, would you like to come on over to London and host these too, please?

And now I REALLY wish I lived in San Francisco!
Had a wonderful time. It was great to visit your design space as well. I’ve left SF and headed back to college in upstate New York with my HAPPY bag of loot and a big smile! Thanks
I wish there was a San Francisco in Sydney. Then I would be there every night! But there’s not
so I’ll just stay glued to my laptop for pretty pictures.
Its a pitty that Its not in Tokyo…it seems so fun!!!
Where did you find that amazing corked drink dispenser? I’ve been looking for something like this for a while- thanks!!!
How awesome. Wish you were in L.A for one. The goodies are insane too!
Love this! After reading this piece yesterday I promptly bought the stain (along with a few other goodies) from Fat & The Moon. Does anyone know if there are events like this in San Diego? And i second the question about where we can get the bags!
I was really, really hoping to find out that one of these would be in Portland, Oregon. I’ll just keep wishing! But, just so you know, Portland would love to have you : )
Wish I lived in SF!
You should sell those darling totes! I would buy one in a heart beat.
Man! I am so jealous right now!!!! San Diego needs you!!!
Oh! Where are those dalmation print pants from?!
I am swooning! What a gorgeous and well-curated event. I hope you’re having fun at Alt Summit! xoxo
