Paul’s old mission companion and his family stayed with us last night. They have two really cute kids. One is 7 months old and one is 3 years old. Byron is three and he has imaginary dogs. I spent a lot of last night petting a silver and green imaginary dog. I read him the only children’s book we have, The Giving Tree, which is the saddest childrens book ever. He kept asking where all our toy were. This morning he played drums with my pretty anthropologie dishes. It was hard not to cringe.

Things to buy before we have kids: plastic dishes, toys, books that aren’t sad.
