We’ve been on a huge surprise ball kick lately — they’re such a quirky way to gift tiny treasures, and they’re fun to make, too! These Emoji Surprise Balls are based on our Oh Happy Day Emoji plates (coming soon to the shop! Stay posted!) They make great party favors or place settings for a dinner party. Read on for the full DIY!
Start with the largest item as your base, then wrap the other little bits and baubles into the folds of the crepe streamer until you have a neat, round package! It’s a fun way to gift wrap a bunch of tiny treats! We have so many cute favors in our shop that are perfect to wrap inside of these surprise balls.
Materials needed: Tiny gifts, crepe paper streamers, washi tape, glittered and plain cardstock, hot glue gun, scissors
Step 1: Gather a variety of tiny gifts to wrap in your surprise ball.
Step 2: Starting with the largest item, begin to wrap with the crepe paper streamer. Continue to wrap the item until it is completely wrapped. Wrap the second item until you have a ball shape, then add a tab of washi tape to secure the end of the streamer to the ball.
Step 3: Wrap the remaining items, creating 6 balls all together.
Step 4: Design and cut out the elements for each face on colored cardstock and cut out. Adhere the face elements using hot glue to one side of your surprise ball. You’re done!

Very cute! I included emoji coin purses in my nephews homemade Christmas crackers this year and they LOVED THEM!

How many trinkets did you put in each “ball”? All of those shown or just a selection from that…
You’d be surprised how much a surprise ball can fit! A surprise ball can fit all of that (and more!).
