Those hot summer days are here and nothing sounds better than a slice of watermelon! Edible or not, these adorable watermelon boxes are a “refreshing” way to package any summer gift or treat.

Materials: Printable Watermelon Box, 8.5 x 11 green card stock, 8.5 x 11 white card stock, pink or red tissue paper, straight edge or ruler, bone folder, craft knife, glue stick, scotch tape.

Step 1: Print out page 1 of the Printable Watermelon Box on 8.5 x 11 green card stock. Score all folds on the box using a bone folder.
Step 2: Using a ruler (or straight edge) and bone folder, score all of the areas that will be folded on the box (See photo for detail).
Step 3: With a craft knife, & ruler (or straight edge) cut out the box.
Step 4: Use the bone folder to make all folds in the box and assemble by placing a small amount of glue on all of the tabs (except the top one). Allow box to dry.
Step 5: Cut out a piece of pink or red tissue paper about 3/4” smaller than the 8.5 x 11 white card stock. Center the tissue paper onto the card stock (regular paper works too but you may want to test your printer to see what works best) and tape the edges of the tissue onto the paper. Feed the tissue paper & card stock into your printer & print page 2 of the PDF. Remove the tissue paper from the card stock by carefully removing the tape or cutting it off with the craft knife.
Step 6: Cut a thin strip of paper from the remaining green card stock used for the box. Wrap the paper around a pen or pencil to create a curl.
Step 7: Make a small incision on the top of the box and feed in the curly topper. If you like you can tape the curly paper on to the underside of the box top.
Step 8: Wrap some treats in the tissue paper and put them in the box. Now go enjoy a real piece of watermelon!
