Fresh watermelon is one of my favorite summer treats – I love the color and pattern in every slice. But sometimes a summer party just needs cupcakes and these mini slices are the perfect toppers! Also, making these is way less messy than slicing a real watermelon.
You will need: Green and pink craft paint, toothpicks, 2″ styrofoam balls, serrated knife, paintbrush, and a black paint pen.
Step 1: Carefully cut the styrofoam ball in half, then cut each half into thirds.
Step 2: Paint the rind side of the slice with green paint.
Step 3: Let the paint dry and stick the slice on a toothpick. Now you can use the toothpick as a handle for painting the rest of it.
Step 4: Paint the sides of the slice pink.
Step 5: After the slice is completely dry, paint small dashes on with the paint pen to look like seeds.
