This is by far the fastest, most satisfying way to create a set of hand-dyed napkins. By choosing colors you love and following a simple technique, each napkin becomes a work of art! They’ll look gorgeous in a place setting but also work for lots of other decor projects, like gift wrap or bunting. The technique is super easy – to get an even splatter pattern, flick the paint off your hands so you have lots of control over how dense the pattern is or how big the drips are. If you’ve never had a full set of cloth napkins for entertaining, this is the perfect way to create one that’s completely personal and will last for years (the splatter pattern is very forgiving on stains)!
You will need: Fabric paint (I chose colors I love – navy blue, turquoise, and neutral gray, but you can choose any colors you like!), plastic cups, dyeable napkins, plastic cups, an iron, and newspaper or a drop cloth.
Step 1: Water down the paint so that it’s much more drippy, by adding about 1 part water to 1 part paint. Use the plastic cup to mix.
Step 2: Set up a large area protected by newspaper or a drop cloth and lay the napkins down in the middle. Covering your hand with the glove, dip it in the watered down paint. Flick the paint off your fingers to cover the napkin in a splatter pattern. Start with the darkest color paint first and end with the lightest color.
Step 3: Let the napkins fully dry. Following the instructions on the paint bottle, iron the napkin to set the colors.

Beautiful! I love easy to create DIYs with stunning outcomes, and this is definitely one. Not quite sure where I might find dyeable napkins in Singapore though. Would you recommend plain cotton napkins?
Thanks for sharing your brilliant idea, Ashley!
