We have really busy schedules {like a lot of people}. And when we finally get some down time we haven’t planned ahead something fun to do. Even the nights when we want to relax and watch a movie, a lot of times we can’t think of anything we want to watch. So for Christmas I made Paul this little Leisure Book so he could be more efficient and enjoy his leisure time. I got a moleskine with tabs {I just used a San Francisco city moleskine} and then I divided it up into cheap restaurants, recommended restaurants, Treats Cafe’s and Dessert, Excursions, Events by time of year, Fun Things to do, Movies, Music, Books, Stores.
Then I did a bunch of research online and asked and emailed a lot of friends for ideas. It is like his own personal culture guide of bands to listen to, stores to visit, movies to rent, hikes to go on, etc. I’m still not totally finished but one of the things I like about it is he can always add to it when he hears about something he wants to check out in his free time.

That is such a great gift. I wasn’t in the gifty mood at Christmas, so I didn’t do anything great for the hubby except this fancy coffee maker he wanted. I want to do something personal for him along these lines. Thanks for the inspiration!

Oh I love this idea. I have a file folder but with no rhyme or reason to it. And I definitely can't just take it with me in the car for an impromptu outing. In it though, is a little folder for San Francisco with three ice-cream shops we want to visit….St. Francis Fountain & Candy, Joe's Ice Cream and the Daily Scoop! The last sounds like a perfect ending to a fun night with the kids around Valentine's Day. Something about the description makes me think "love is in the air"!

Thats a brilliant idea – I need to make something similar, especially for music and films. I hear of a band I want to check out or a film I must see then when I got to rent a film or buy a cd I can’t think of anything! You give good presents in your house.

Hello!
I’d like to just thank you for your blog. I like it’s calm appearance a lot, it is peaceful and soothing to see.
Can I ask you about your other blogs? I noticed they are for invitation only. Let my people go – whom do you invite to follow? I don’t mean to intrude, I’m just interested in the title.
Happy New Year 2009!

Wow, can’t tell you how much I love this idea! I can so understand what you are talking about in your blog. It happens to us everytime we have some time to ourself – we just sit there and can’t think of anything to do! I already thought of putting ideas down on notecards … but they tend to get lost and you don’t find them once you really need them. The book is such a good idea! And you also can record/ see later what things you did already. I think it’s lovely as a present (all the work you did!) but also think it could probably be nice to work on one together as a couple. I can imagine it might help – especially when you have rather different interests as my husband and I have – to plan some “together-time”. Thanks so much for this great idea! Will put it on my “to-do-list” 🙂
