I love having pretty taper candles around in great colors – they add such romance and ambiance to special occasions. This Valentine-themed paper wreath with scalloped leaves and heart shaped flowers is a great way to display them during a romantic dinner.
Materials: scissors, scalloped scissors, brass advent wreath base, white flower pips, craft glue, gray paper, pink marbleized paper, white floral tape, pink taper candles, and gray spray paint
Step 1: Spray paint the wreath base gray and let dry.
Step 2: Cut out leaves by folding over the gray paper and cutting a leaf shape along the fold. Then use the scalloped scissors to decorate the end of the leaf. Make sure the leaves have a base so you can attach them to the wreath. Vary the sizes of the leaves from about one to two inches in length.
Step 3: Make the flowers by cutting a 1.5 inch square out of marbleized paper. Fold this square in half twice and one more time on the diagonal. You should now have a tiny folded triangle. Round the open edge of the triangle with scissors. Now unfold the flower and cut out one of the heart shaped petals (keep this around for confetti). Take three pips and wind them together, securing with glue. Place a dab of glue in the center of the folded flower shape and cover the inside of one petal with glue. Place the pip center on the dab of glue and fold the flower around it, overlapping the glued petal with another petal to secure the cone. Let dry.
Step 4: Attach petals and flowers to the wreath base using floral tape. Wrap the tape around the base a few times, pulling it tightly to activate the glue in the tape, then wrap over a leaf and continue wrapping. Work all the way around the wreath, adding a flower every few inches or so.

This is so beautiful. I especially love the idea for the simple paper flowers. I’m not sure I have the skills to pull off the whole project but the flower construction I’m bookmarking for the future!

This is really cute. I’m new to your blog, so maybe you already have something out there, but it would be cute to alter this slightly to make an advent wreath near Christmas.
Thanks!
