I love the idea of giving my guests something a little different at my next summer party. This 3D pineapple invitation can be filled with trinkets and goodies to get friends and family excited about what’s to come. Mail these festive treasures out beforehand to get everyone pumped for the big day, or use them as treat boxes to surprise your pals when the fun is over.
Click through for instructions…
Materials: 2 mini expresso cups, metallic crepe paper (cut into fringe), PVA glue, colored card, double-sided tape, scissors, trinkets and confetti treats to put into the pineapple
Step 1: Cut the bottom edges off the expresso cups.
Step 2: Trace the open end of an expresso cup onto coloured card. Here’s your chance to write a little party message onto the coloured circle, whether it be invitation details, or a guest’s name. Use PVA glue to stick the circle onto the rim of one expresso cup.
Step 3: Cut a thin strip of card. With the two cup openings facing each other, stick the strip over both cups using double-sided tape.
Step 4: The strip forms a hinge allowing you to open and close the parcel.
Step 5: Using double-sided tape, begin sticking the fringe around the parcel, starting from the bottom and working upwards.
Step 6: Right before the last layer of fringe goes on, cut a circle that will fit the top of the parcel and stick it to the top. Then use the last layer of fringe to seal everything off neatly.
Step 7: Cut 9 small triangles from green card and fold the short edges over slightly to form tabs. Affix double sided tape to each of these tabs and stick them around the top of the parcel to form the pineapple leaves.
Step 8: Once the leaves are stuck on, curl them outwards to make them look more like leaves.
Step 9: Open up the parcel and fill the empty cup with party-themed trinkets, lollies and confetti. Cut a decorative tab from colored card and use it to seal the pineapple parcel closed.

This is cute and very clever! I kinda thought the pineapple was made from some kind of cups, but it’s an ingenious way to use them. Who could turn down a party to which they received an invite like this?
