Move over cupcakes, donuts are here and it’s hard for anyone to compete with warm sugary fried bread. (I mean, have you ever put a donut in a microwave?) These delicious treats are so good they need a party all their own. Enter: a fancy donut party. This spread was very easy to put together and I like things that are easy but have a big effect. A donut bar would work great as a dessert table at a wedding or even a shower. Here is the DIY for the donut hole croquembouche. (Or for a more casual party don’t forget the Donut Tree.)
Instructions for making a fancy donut party.
Materials Needed: Vintage Ceramic Vessels, parchment paper, donuts (see the DIY for the donut hole croquembouche right here.)
Step 1: Collect old vessels from Flea Markets and Ebay (I’ve collected mine over the last five years. Usually the items are $7-$20. Try searches like this one.)
Step 2: Order donuts. For this spread we ordered: 250 donut holes, 4 dozen mini assorted (adorable), 2 dozen glazed, 1 dozen assorted
Step 3: Line the vessels with parchment paper
Step 3: Pay close attention to the landscape of the table and height of each dish. Vary the heights by adding a subtle white box underneath or by stacking the donuts very high.
Step 4: Stack donuts by type and size in each dish.

THIS IS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE! Thank goodness I had a donut earlier otherwise I would be very sad! And the vintage planters as cake stands – genius need to go hunting now in the “garden” section of the 2nd stores now! Great ideas as always and so beautifully executed!

Love how you used old planters for serving dishes! I’m a big fan of buying old plates/bottles and spray painting them for decor.
Absolutely gorgeous! I’m keeping this is mind for an upcoming party I’m having.

Now I’m hungry! For a donut!
I love donuts and served them at my wedding (in addition to cake) for guests to either eat as a midnight snack or take home for breakfast.

Chouquettes! Doing a tower with them is so easy and it’s perfect for large gatherings. In France it’s also traditional to have them instead of a large cake.

would you feature some *healthy* party foods? Rather than… deep-fried dough with sugar?

This is fantastic! Love the croquembouche tower — really elevates the donut to “très chic” status! Can’t wait for tomorrow’s how-to post.
I’ll have to try this soon – thanks for sharing!

Let me just start off by saying I’m a dietitian. And I also like doughnuts. I had one this morning. I LOVE that you did so many different shapes and colors. Okay, back to my cherries for a snack.

So what you’re saying is that we should classify the doughnuts by size and then arrange them in old planters? And then invite people over? This all seems kind of stupid.
