When I discovered this spray chalk that comes in lots of colors I got excited about all the possibilities. You spray it on like spray paint but it comes off with water because its made of chalk. There are so many cool things you could do with this. Like make a big installation on a wall or a street or even a sidewalk. It’s super easy and a fun way to surprise someone.
For this stencil we printed out this free template and took it to Kinko’s to blow it up on their big black and white machine. We cut out the black letters and made sure to leave the center pieces connected by small pieces of paper. Once you make the template you can use it over and over.

LOVE THIS ! I am going to have to try this with my original hand lettering. This would be cool to put at an entrance to a reception “Let the party begin!” or the couples names.
Thanks for posting!

That looks so fun! I LOVE the idea of spray on chalk! That’s what graffiti artists should use…
Anyway, it does seem like a lot of work though, for something that could just rinse away. I’d never do it for that reason, but I like that you’ve done it. 🙂

This is cute… but I don’t get how this works any different than regular chalk? If you already have the template for the phrase/picture that you want to put on the sidewalk, what’s the point of buying spray chalk when you can just take a big piece of regular chalk and rub it over the template?
If anything, what makes this cute is the template, not the spray chalk…

We wanted to use spraychalk and stencils for a promotion at work – cut out all the stencils, and then the lawyers nixed it. 🙁 But the test run we did in our parking lot lasted a few days through at least one rain, and we found spray chalk in fun neon colors. I’ve been hoping for another chance to use it…was thinking it would be fun to decorate our driveway for a kid’s birthday, or make temporary games at our playground. Love this project!

I came up with this same idea as a business a few years ago for a friend that was just looking for some fun to do.. Use Vinyl Flooring to make a stencil and then store, easy peasy lemon squeasy.. They never followed through with it.. but I think it still would be something fun for people..

This is really cute and potentially very romantic 🙂 I think I would be self conscious spraying the chalk in a public place since it looks like spray paint…but I suppose I’d get past it 🙂

Great idea! I had never seen chalk spray before! Since I love doing everything by myself I wonder if there would be a way to make your own chalk spray in using chalk powder , children’s paint and water in a clean spray bottle. In France we can still find a white chalk powder that was traditionally used as a window and brass cleaner.(I unfortunately don’t know the name of it in English). It’s great to paint directly on windows. It should would in a spray too if properly diluted.I’ll keep you posted if it works.
I love your ideas! They are awesome!
