Baby showers are so much fun.Β Cute little shoes, little jammies, little hats…everything itty bitty! I’ve been to enough of them to recognize some favorites among expecting mothers…books, wooden toys and (of course) the practical essentials. Any other favorites? All suggestions are most welcome!
Below are some ideas for what to wear and what to give at a baby shower:
What to Wear: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

When I was pregnant with my little girl, my sister-in-law got together with all of my family and found out everyone’s favourite children’s book from when they were small – I ended up with a great gift, of hard-to-find vintage classics along with new favourites from young nephews and nieces – an amazing collection of books to start my little Dot out right! x

Fabulous outfit ideas! I am obsessed lately with giving books and cute storage containers as gifts. Also if you have the time diaper cakes can be so cute.

I almost picked up dress #1 this past weekend but only found a size xs which was a little too short for public appearances.
Cute ideas!

That little sheep is too cute! I also loved getting books for my little guy. He loves to read, and seems especially partial to Eric Carle’s board books.

I have the ‘This is San Francisco’ book on my little guy’s shelf since that’s where he was born. That book is just so lovely!

These outfits are perfect for laid-back or a bit dressed-up baby showers…and wooden toys are the best idea…so many mamas opt for wooden over plastic. Whole Foods always has good gifts and cute clothing items, too, I find you can come up with all you need in that tiny aisle if you’ve got no time to shop beyond your groceries for the week.

Cute outfits!
I always love to give something cute like you have above (for the “aw factor” present), then something practical like a breast pump or boppy – something they’ll use everyday that doesn’t really have “aw factor” but gets used a ton! π

This post could not have come at a better time… I am hosting a baby shower for my Parisian friend (in San Francsico) and would love to know if there are any French Party Supply stores that you would reccomend for the party (online of course). She wants it to be French, but in the French way, not kitschy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated….

Oh my goodness this is lovely! I needed some ideas. Although I’ll probably wear something blue since I found out it’s a Facebook themed shower (since my hubs just got a job there). Thanks for sharing!

I’ve seen a lot of new moms go crazy for diaper cakes. I think it’s the combination of such a pretty gift mixed with the very practical diapers and other gifts they usually have in them.

Love the outfit!
I work at a kids store and these are the items I always recommend to people:
-Wry’s Mysterio Tee – A little t-shirt that predicts the child’s future career. One career, for example, is monkey wrangler
-Boon’s Squirt – Fits a whole can of baby food & doesn’t leak so you can throw it in the bottom of a diaper bag and go!
-Flat out bear – a flat sheepskin bear that is super soft
-Miller Goodman Playshapes – a little expensive but these are the most buttery soft blocks you could ever buy and they are so unique
Also, Ikea has some amazing wooden toys. I gave my nephew the train set and he is crazy for it!

I’m with Sarah Wilks; love the idea of a baby book themed party. I usually choose the latest Caldecott Medal winner to give. Love, love, love children’s books.
