DIY Ombre Mini Pumpkin Centerpiece

Sure, traditional fall colors can be beautiful but sometimes it’s nice to add a pop of warm-toned brights to this conventionally dull-hued season. And so, we came up with this cheerful ombre centerpiece that you can re-create for your fall parties. Just gather some mini pumpkins and paint in a spectrum ranging from bright yellow to neon pink! Be sure to include touches of gold for some added sparkle!

Materials needed: Mini pumpkins, white gesso, acrylic paint (in shades of pink; we included neon pink and coral in ours), paint brush

Step 1: Lay out all of your pumpkins as you plan to place them in your centerpiece. Assign colors to the pumpkins, making sure that each color blends into the next, and separate the pumpkins into color groupings.

Step 2: Prime all of the pumpkins with one to two layers of gesso, leaving the stems as is.

Step 3: Paint the underside of all of the pumpkins in their assigned colors. When dry, flip and paint the rest. You may need to do a second coat

Step 4: Arrange the dry painted pumpkins on your table for a fun and festive setting!

This is very cute – I think I’d opt for spray painting for a quicker finish, although that would require several cans of paint to achieve the color range vs. mixing paint colors. Maybe even taping off the stem and spray priming. But I really love the finished product, very cute.

This colour palette in amazing. Here in Australia, it always feels weird to do Halloween celebrations with Fall (or autumn!) colours, so I really love this.
