Materials needed: Cardboard, spray paint (gold, pink, white), hot glue gun, artist’s tape, gold mylar tape, papermache hat, poster board, tape measure, ruler, x-acto knife, scissors, pencil

Step 1: Cut a piece of cardboard into a large rectangle approximately 24” tall and 41” wide. Score the backside every 3” with an x-acto knife. Cut arm holes on opposing sides. Paint white and let dry. Bend cardboard at the scored joints, round into a tube, and hot glue the overlapping ends.
Step 2: Apply gold mylar tape along each vertical fold.
Step 3: Cut canvas straps, and glue to the interior of the tube.
Step 4: Measure the inner rim of the paper mache hat and cut a piece of posterboard to that length with a bit of margin. Trim the paper to approximately 18“ tall. Mark the midpoint and lightly draw a bell curve onto the paper. Cut along the line, wrap the poster board around the hat, and hot glue the overlapping ends.
Step 5: Cut a piece of posterboard to fit the curved opening and temporarily tape in place. Flip the form upside down and apply hot glue around the inner rim. Let set, then carefully remove the tape from the exterior. Remove the posterboard form from the hat. Spray paint the form pink, then set aside to dry.
Step 6: Measure the outer brim of the paper mache hat. Cut a piece of posterboard to that length with some margin. Place the hat on the costume wearer’s head and measure the distance from the hat’s rim to the wearer’s shoulder. Trim the posterboard to this height.
Step 7: Tape the poster board to the hat’s brim. Flip the hat upside down and apply hot glue on the interior, where the posterboard meets the brim. Let set, then remove the tape from the exterior. Spray paint the form gold and let dry. Then, cut an opening for the wearer’s face.
Step 8: Glue the pink form to the top of the gold hat. Voila!

Under the costume, we recommend wearing solid pants/shirt in a coordinating color. For kids, Primary has great basics in a rainbow of colors!

Omg this is beyond adorable! I would definitely make this for my daughter for Halloween, if she didn’t settle on being Elsa this year haha.
