My dad is the kind of guy who ONLY wears bow ties. I’m always trying come up with new ways to highlight this particular fashion style of his for Father’s Day. This year make a bow tie box for your own stylish Dad! It is perfect for small gifts or a bit of candy. Your dad will certainly want to keep his very “fashionable” little bow tie box.
Materials: Printable Father’s Day Bow Tie Template, 8.5 x 11 blue text weight paper (I used Lagoon Blue from Paper Source), glue, scissors, bone folder & straight edge (not pictured but optional).
Step 1: Print out both pages of Printable Father’s Day Bow Tie Template on 8.5 x 11 blue text weight paper.
Step 2: Begin with page 1 (the top of the box) and cut out each part of the template. Cut where there are solid lines on the template (see photo).
Step 3: Fold the template along the dotted lines. See photos for better clarification.
Step 4: Put a bit of glue on the outside tabs of the bow. You will want to put glue on the outside (plaid) part of the rectangle tabs and inside part of the triangle tabs. Glue together the outer bow parts of the box.
Step 5: Fold the “inside supports” and the “center bow” of the template along the dotted lines.
Step 6: Glue the “inside supports” inside the bow as shown in picture.
Step 7: Glue in one side of the “center bow” then place the “box top card insert” on top of the box. Finish glueing the rest of the “center bow” around and under the box (see photo).
Step 8: Repeat these steps (without the “box top card insert”) for page 2 of the template.
Step 9: When the top and bottom of the box are assembled and the glue is dry, add some goodies to the box and let your dad know how wonderful he is!
Happy Father’s Day!
